Writing in the Sand Picture

This is such a fun project to do with your kids (or by yourself) while you are at the beach.

Collect some cool shells, beach glass or driftwood. Use a broken shell with a sharp edge to write your name or message in the sand. Decorate your scene with the shells, etc. Take oodles of pictures. Try different angles and different distances.

When you get home pick out your favorite. And then you can use your favorite photo editing software or one of these great free websites Picnik or Sumo Paint - to make color corrections, cropping, etc.

Print your picture out and put it in a cute frame.

I debated whether or not to add shells and sea glass to the outside of the frame. The kids voted and we decided to add them with hot glue (or you could use E-6000) to the frame.

Then hang your sign on a door or set it up on your desk. You be the boss!

My hubs and I did this on our 2nd anniversary at the beach! I blogged about it here: http://mandysyellowcorner.blogspot.com/2010/05/hubs-and-i-celebrated-our-2nd.html
I didn't think to add seashells to ours. . . I was too obsessed with trying to capture a wave! I love how yours turned out :]

That is so cute. I hate having tons of trinkets and tchatchkies(sp)from vacations. What a simple way to create a custom souvenir! Love it!

What a wonderful way to preserve a memory and use the shells that always seem to follow us home and then have no where to live. I wish I'd thought of this while on vacation this summer.... next year!

I LOVE this idea. Our daughter is a BEACH freak! We will HAVE to do this next time we are on the beach. You could even try this in different ways for vacation pics, too! FABULOUS and THANKS!

This is a great idea! I've done it before but haven't printed the pics. Last fall I did this with the tons of leaves that had fallen in the yard. I made a heart shape out of the leaves, filled the outside edges with more leaves and the end result was a pretty little heart of green grass surrounded by the leaves. ♥

I always enjoy meeting new bloggers, especially when they're from NC. It's nice meeting you :o)
